Which course for me?

The following is a summary of the full-time courses offered:

AS/A Level Computing

This course is more technical and involves understanding of how hardware works and includes programming. There is one practical module (externally set and assessed by exam in year 1) and two externally tested modules in each of the two years

AS/A Level ICT

This course will allow you to develop a broad understanding of the use of ICT systems and is based on practical activities designed to give you a high level of skill in using a range of application packages. It is equally well suited to students who intend to make ICT a central part of their future career, and those who wish to simply use it as a supporting course for other subjects. You can study this course alongside other A Levels or with vocational courses.

This is a full time course and is suited to those students who wish to develop a career in Information Technology and Computing. It does not fit into the Curriculum 2000 model (AS/A2 courses) but is still very wide-ranging in its scope. It is a nationally recognised qualification that can lead to employment but also provides an education that allows progression to University. The course is biased towards software design but additionally covers hardware and electronic units.

This diploma provides the opportunity for you to gain an IT specific, nationally recognised qualification. It mainly concentrates on applications and breadth rather than great depth. For students wanting full-time ICT but who do not have high enough grades for IT Extended Diploma, or who want a year gaining some ICT experience.
