Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
City & Guilds 7303 at Levels 3 or 4 Part-Time
(6 credits)
This qualification provides an entry point and introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train. It is the qualification for those seeking a ‘stepping stone’ to qualifications that entitle them to teach in the sector in either an ‘Associate Teacher’ or ‘Full Teacher’ role. The qualification is suitable for those who work, or want to work, as teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector, i.e. Further, Adult and Community Education, Work-Based Learning and the Voluntary Sector.
The 7303 Award is one unit, comprising five sections based on the teaching/training cycle. The five sections will cover your understanding of:
- own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
- appropriate teaching and learning approaches in your specialist area
- session planning skills and demonstration of those skills
- how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners
- the use of different assessment methods and the need for record
keeping.
The 7303 Award will equip a wide range of teachers and facilitators with what the Sector Skills Council, LLUK, has termed ‘a threshold licence to teach’. (It also provides progression to the 7305 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector DTTLS for those seeking ‘Full Teacher’ QTLS status)
