This course covers the Royal Yachting Association shore-based syllabus and students should have completed the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore qualification before enrolling. It covers the use of the sextant, astro-navigation using the sun, stars, planets, moon and pole star. It also addresses the world weather systems, tropical revolving storms and ocean passage planning. Enrolment fees cover the cost of the course materials. Students will need a plotter and pair of dividers.

Please note that successful completion of this qualification depends on a minimum of 70% attendance, continuous assessment and an end of course written exam.
