RYA Day Skipper

This course covers the Royal Yachting Association shore-based syllabus. It assumes no prior knowledge and includes an introduction to basic seamanship, the essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage, including the use of electronic chart plotters - meteorology and safety procedures. Enrolment fees cover the cost of the basic course materials and the Practice Navigation Tables, but students will need to purchase a plotter and a pair of dividers. They are also recommended to acquire copies of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (IRPCS) and NP5011 chart Symbols and Abbreviations.

Please note that successful completion of this qualification depends on a minimum of 70% attendance, continuous assessment and an end of course written exam.
