Pathways Plus: Discreet courses for adults with learning difficulties

All courses will start in the week beginning 20 September.

All courses are £20 each.

Arts and Crafts
In these Art and Craft activities students will experiment with a variety of techniques and materials; these will include painting, drawing, collage, 3D modelling, papier maché, pottery and printing. Suitable for students who enjoy creative activities.

Communication Skills
A course designed to improve communication skills through games, music, rôle-play and outdoor activities using a variety of communication aids including signing, widgit and social signs. This course is open to students and carers of all abilities.

Fun with Computers
A basic computer course to learn keyboard skills and explore various word processing and graphics computer programs. Students can use their literacy skills to be creative, individually or in a group, writing, composing poems, stories, notes, card messages and posters.

Cookery
Students can learn cooking skills as well as develop literacy and independence skills through their cooking. Sessions will involve cooking various snacks, cakes, biscuits and simple meals.
Students on cookery courses will be asked to make additional monetary contributions towards ingredients.

Gardening Activities
This course offers basic gardening and associated craft skills through indoor and outdoor activities. The course aim is to develop the students’ basic skills in maintaining and developing the Pathways garden. Students will undertake a learning programme for the gardening year and work towards achieving individual full potential.
Students may be asked to make additional monetary contributions towards the cost of plants.

Hobbycrafts
A course of arts, crafts and other hobbies to include gardening. For people who enjoy being creative and working in a small friendly group. Students can enjoy making different items using various art and craft techniques.

Learning through the Senses
A course primarily designed for individuals with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Students will work on targets designed to enhance communication skills, an awareness of themselves and others and the environment, through a sensory programme including art, cookery, gardening activities, music, movement and the use of the Sensory Room.
