Stitch and Stick 2
5 weeks
Every other week to allow students time to complete projects
11, 25 January, 8, 22 February, 7 March
This course is for anyone interested in creative textiles, from beginners to those with a little experience who are looking for fresh ideas and who enjoy working with others. (Follow the links on the college web site to see examples of previous students' work.) We shall explore ways of creating a fabric landscape, rural or urban. Your final piece could be incorporated into a hanging, cushion, bag, etc. Projects will be hand sewn but a sewing machine might be useful for simple straight sewing between classes. You will get advice on using a sewing machine.
For the first class you will need:
- Any pictures of landscapes which inspire you
- Basic sewing kit: sewing needles, dressmaker' pins, small sharp scissors, large fabric cutting scissors
- A good selection of fabric (preferably crisp cotton) from your rag bag
- One metre of medium/light weight calico, pre-washed and pressed
- 2-3 sheets A4 paper, paper scissors, pencil and ruler
- Rotary cutter and mat if you already have them
