British Art Movements: Pre-Raphaelites to the Cornish Artists

The course is designed for the beginner with an interest in Art History. It will introduce students to the concept of a national art, within the context of Great Britain, and will include The Pre-Raphaelites, Walter Sickert and the British Post-Impressionists, The Scottish Colourists, Cubism/Futurism in England, The Naive and Its influence on mainstream art, Experimental Art, Surrealism, The Cornish School.
The course will take the form of lecture and group discussion. Students will also be asked to contribute by undertaking their own research.
