English Language and Literature AS/A Level

You will gain a two-fold benefit from this course which offers an integrated approach to the study of language and literature. Three units will be covered for AS (Spoken Word, Desk Study, Shorter Fiction Study for coursework or exam) and another three for A2 (Writing for Different Audiences and Purposes for coursework or examination, Wider Reading, Genre Studies – the Synoptic Paper). You will be able to develop your personal writing skills by adapting material for a variety of contexts as well as experimenting in original writing and examining spoken language in use. Through the study of two set literature texts for AS and another two for A2 you will extend your critical awareness and refine your skills of close textual analysis.

The cost of textbooks and exam fees are not included in the course fee. Students will need to purchase three set texts, approximate cost £45.

Non-refundable exam fees for GCSE, AS and A2 are payable at the beginning of October.
