IB Spanish: (Language B) Standard Level Ab initio (beginners)
The ab initio Spanish course is designed for students with little or no prior experience of the language and offers an exciting opportunity for students to further their knowledge of a foreign language and its culture through the study of three key themes:
- The individual and society
- Leisure and work
- Urban and rural environment
Each theme has a list of topics that provide the opportunity for students to practise and explore the language as well as to develop intercultural understanding. While learning Spanish the student becomes aware of the similarities and differences between his or her culture(s) and those of the Spanish or Latin American culture. This helps to foster an international perspective and to develop intercultural understanding, key themes of the International Baccalaureate.
