Tutorial

A strong feature of the College is the effective tutorial system which supports you during your time with us. Although the College is quite large it is small enough to care for you as an individual.

Your Personal Tutor

We believe in looking after our students. You will have a personal tutor who will regularly discuss your progress and provide help and support.

Your Tutor will:

  • Help you to settle into College through our Welcome Programme.
  • Help you to design your programme of study to include structured research.
  • Help you to plan your work and meet deadlines.
  • Monitor your progress and help you to set targets.
  • Monitor your attendance closely and inform parents if there is a problem.
  • Refer you to specialist advice where necessary, such as careers.
  • Help you to make applications to higher education or employment.
  • Advise your parents about your progress through reports and parents’ evening

Monitoring your progress

We monitor your progress regularly, with formal reviews four times a year: in November your parents will receive an interim report and there will be Student Progress Review Days when you will agree an Individual Learning Plan and targets with your subject tutors. There will be a full report issued to parents in March.

We also provide formal feedback on your progress against minimum target grades in December and April.

Learning Difficulties and Disabilities

The College aims to provide a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all our students. We openly welcome the new legislation regarding supporting students with a disability and actively take measures to ensure that the needs of disabled students are met. The College aims to provide facilities that are as accessible as possible in which to pursue educational activities.
