All courses within the programme benefit from additional support.
BRIDGE
This is a full time, one year course for students who are already working at Entry 2 and above. Students study Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Catering and Employability and Personal Development. Enrichment activities and a possible work placement experience are also included within the course. Students study for City & Guilds qualifications, awarded through portfolio and final exam. Classes are small and benefit from LSA support and Connexions services. Students may progress to further courses or into employment.
FEDEX
This is a full time, one year course for students who need to improve their basic skills and are currently working at Entry 3 and above. Students study for City and Guilds qualifications in Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and Employability and Personal Development, which may include a work placement. These qualifications are awarded through portfolio and final exam and students may take these exams at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. Vocational taster classes are organised on a termly basis. Students may progress from Fedex to a range of higher level courses, traineeships or employment. Connexions also work closely with students to advise on future options. Classes are small and benefit from LSA support.
APEX
This is a programme which supports students already in the workplace. Students are visited by a tutor for two hours per week to maintain and develop their basic skills. APEX students agree learning targets which are assessed and reviewed and they may work towards gaining a qualification in Literacy and Numeracy. The programme would initially run for one year.
Acceptance on the Foundation Programme will be decided through interview and good references.
