Government and Politics
Politics is a study of the decision-making processes which affect people's lives at local, national and international levels. Examples of topics include: Prime Minister, Parliament, European Union, Law and Order, Economic Policies and Social Welfare.
Apart from the obvious need for hard work, the key qualities needed for success in Politics are: good English expression; a capacity to argue logically, with supporting evidence, and an interest in current affairs.
The Politics department organises talks and discussions in College from our local Parliamentary Candidates at the time of general elections, and as part of the A/AS Level course regular visits are undertaken.
Examples of Student Questionnaire responses:
"Politics has been an extremely useful subject and has helped in my understanding of present issues and events."
"Politics is a subject that I have really enjoyed. I find the lessons interesting and informative"
