Music: Extended Diploma

In a new undertaking for the College, this qualification is designed for practical musicians who are serious about taking their studies to an advanced level with a view to entering further training, further education and employment within the music sector.

The course will focus on developing practical skills in performance, composition, production and the use of technology over the two years, supported by academic study and regular contact with professional practitioners and institutions, such as recording studios.

The Music Department has forged close associations with a wide range of educational institutions respected for musical excellence, including The Guildhall and Bath Spa University, and active practitioners across a range of disciplines, including performers, producers, songwriters and composers for films and computer games.

There are numerous opportunities for students’ work to be showcased at venues within and outside of the College, as well as through digital media, workshops and tours.

  • Sequencing Systems & Techniques

A Subsidiary Diploma in Performing (equivalent to one A Level) may be available to some students on an A Level programme.

About this course

Specific entry requirements: GCSE Grade C in English. It is desirable that applicants will have Music GCSE Grade C or a Level 2 Diploma in Music with Distinction profile. However, this is a practical course with a strong performance element and the interview and audition process will allow for other qualifications and experience to be considered. It is essential that applicants have some proficiency as performers and have an interest in the use of music technology.. more..

Costs: approximately £100, to cover essential books, equipment and visits. There may be additional costs associated with some workshops and tours.
