Corporation Member Attributes
Being a Corporation member of The HENLEY College is an interesting and rewarding experience for those suitable for appointment. Training will be given for those appointed so lack of experience in governance of an educational institution is not a barrier to appointment. Applications are sought from suitable candidates irrespective of gender, race or ethnicity, disability, age or religion.
General Attributes Sought:
- An interest in and commitment to lifelong learning
- Knowledge of The Henley College and a desire to promote its activities in the community
- A commitment to the promotion of equal opportunities
- Ability to attend Committee and Corporation meetings which are generally held in the evening.
- Willingness to participate in training sessions and occasional working groups
- Ability to deal with volumes of paperwork to prepare for meetings
- Committee and/or Board experience in the Public or voluntary sectors would be useful although not essential
- Confidence, to enable the Candidate to contribute fully in meetings
Specific Attributes
We are currently seeking candidates with experience of any of the following:
a) A broad understanding of the post-16 curriculum and quality improvement
b) Human resources, including staff development, legal issues in employment law and equal opportunities;
c) Local or national level involvement in the promotion of the arts or sport;
d) Project management or other senior management or business experience.
General Comments
Governors are required to make a public declaration of interests when appointed and if it is anticipated that any significant conflict of interest could occur on appointment, this could prejudice an application/nomination.
Candidates are also advised that, if their application/nomination is successful,
an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check will be obtained.
