About FALAISE ....
Situated some 20Kms south of the Channel port of Caen, Falaise (population some 9000) lies at the intersection of the varied landscapes of Normandy, with the Caen plain to the North, the picturesque Pays d'Auge and its half-timbered manor houses and cider orchards to the east, and the scenic Suisse Normande to the west.
This ancient town, the birthplace in 1027 of William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy and King of England, has a rich history. Evidence of its heritage lies in its imposing 12th century castle, its four magnificent churches, one of which dates from the 11th century, in its ancient mansion houses and in its 13th century town wall.

About the Association ....
The Association was formed in 1973 to promote and foster contact and friendship between the two towns.
This it seeks to do primarily through social, recreational and cultural activities involving individuals, families and organisations.
Exchange visits are arranged each year, families in Henley and Falaise acting as hosts in alternate years and the Association acts as liaison between corresponding clubs and societies in the two localities. A programme of optional activities in Henley is also provided, which includes an annual garden party, petanque competitions, a French conversation group and an annual dinner.
The Association welcomes all new members, especially young families from the neighbourhood and is keen to work with local clubs and societies.
