Henley Arts and Crafts Guild
Aims
The Guild, founded in 1953, aims to bring together all those interested in visual arts and the crafts. This is achieved by arranging a number of activities for members throughout the year.
Landscape painting days are arranged in the summer months and indoor painting workshops are held during the winter, usually on a Friday, mostly at the Remenham Parish Hall.
Occasionally, other locations are chosen. A tutor is in attendance both on landscape days and during the winter workshops, although this practice is varied from time to time according to popular demand. More recently, other activities have been introduced into a more varied programme (eg. video mornings, factory visits etc)
An annual exhibition of members' work is normally held in the autumn; there is also a smaller, more selective, exhibition in the spring. Pictures hung and craft displayed at the spring exhibition are usually chosen by someone who is an accepted authority on fine arts and who is not a member of the Guild. Both exhibitions are held in the Exhibition Centre, Market Place, Henley-on-Thames.
Programme cards, showing details of landscape days and tutored workshops, are distributed twice a year. A Guild newsletter is published quarterly accompanied by notice of exhibitions, other meetings and outings to London Galleries etc.
Membership
The subscription year runs from 1st July to 30th June. New members
are welcome at any time but will be expected to pay the full
