What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers and apprentices, which lead to nationally recognised qualifications. They have been developed by business representatives from the relevant industry sectors and the Sector Skills Councils. Because they genuinely understand your business, the training will be relevant for your industry.

Hiring apprentices is a productive and cost effective way to help you grow a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce whilst reducing training and recruitment costs. They attract new talent with fresh ideas or allow you to train or up-skill your existing staff.

There are three levels of Apprenticeship available:

Apprenticeships can take between 1 and 4 years to complete depending on the level, the apprentice’s current skills and the industry sector.   They are for anyone over the age of 16 who is not in full time education or have a degree.
