A first stage teaching qualification with a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an 'in service' qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to complete this qualification. All candidates whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 30 hours of teaching, 3 hours of which will be observed. Suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment. Upon successful completion, you will have an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relations to planning of lessons, legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of the learners. You will be able to use initial and diagnostic assessments to plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning, assess learning and use appropriate resources to support effective learning.
A reasonable level of language, literacy and numeracy. You should be aware that if you wish to progress to Level 5 and become a teaching professional you will need to be qualified to Level 3 in both Maths and English.

Applicants aged 19+ can apply for a learner loan, the course is subsidised for those aged 19-23.
