Also known as Uniformed Protective Services Extended Diploma

Course Overview

Develop leadership and teamwork skills required by the uniformed protective services industry. If you are interested in joining the blue light or armed forces, Prison Service, security organisations or HM Customs, our motivational protective services programmes will prepare you for a range of career paths. This course is also an accepted qualification for entry into university, with more than half of our students going on to study subjects including police studies, law, sociology, criminology, and psychology. Last year students went on to a variety of destinations including university places at Portsmouth, Brighton, Central Lancashire, Hertfordshire, Bristol, Buckinghamshire and Bournemouth. You can expect to meet lots of guest speakers to challenge, inspire and develop you.

 

Assessment:

This qualification has two externally assessed units which will be in the form of written exams.
All other units are internally assessed through a range of methods including: Presentations, Written reports, Practical observations, Discussions, Debates and Projects

Duration: 2 years
Entry requirements:

Grade 4 in English and Maths plus 3 grade 4s in other subjects

£20 for textbooks

£360 (approximately) for 2nd Year trip

There are a range of opportunities for a career in the public services including roles in the police, army, fire service, nursing, RAF, security and border control and many more. Students may consider direct entry into other employment, or further training.

Higher education

This course is an accepted qualification for entry into university, with students going on to study subjects including police studies, law, sociology, criminology

and psychology at universities such as Brunel, Kent, Leicester, Manchester, Plymouth, Reading and Southampton.
