Course Overview

This vocational course, equivalent to three A Levels, is ideally suited to students who enjoy Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics and are looking for an alternative to A Levels.

Exams (42%) Coursework (58%)

Duration: 2 years
Entry requirements:

Standard entry requirements, Maths and English grade 4 plus grade 4 in two GCSE science subjects or Merit grade in BTEC Science.

Exam board: Edexcel
Costs:

Approximately £20 for textbooks, plus optional field trips.

There are many career opportunities as a forensic scientist including specialisms in DNA profiling, tissue analysis, explosives/firearms/ballistics, research and laboratory work.

Higher education

This course is an accepted qualification for entry into university, particularly for science-related degrees such as criminology, dietetics, forensic science, psychology and biology-related subjects.
