Course structure

• Before you start

  You may be required to complete an activity before you start in order to help introduce you to the subject. Check back in the summer term for more details.

• Year 1

  During the first year, the following broad topic areas are studied: Stereotypes, Equality and Gender, Modern World Issues, Aspects of Artistic Culture and you will study a contemporary Spanish film.

• Year 2

  In the second year three new themes are covered: Law and Order, Medical Advances and related ethical issues, Aspects of Political Culture and you will also study a literary text.

  You are also encouraged to supplement your programme with the Extended Project.

• Life after Henley

  Many of the students who have taken AS and A-level Spanish over
  recent years have gone to study modern languages at university or
  taken a degree involving Spanish and another subject (e.g. Law, International Relationships, Business and many others).

  Last year students went on to a variety of destinations including university places at Bath, Bournemouth, Exeter, Westminster, Chester, Northampton and Cardiff.

  Employers value the skills that students of Spanish have gained at A-level which include the ability to pay attention to detail, communicate effectively and the ability to extract information from a wide range of texts.
