Course Overview

Film Studies will interest anyone who not only enjoys cinema going, but is also curious about how films are put together and how they communicate to their audience. From the base of a fully-equipped cinema classroom you will explore the social history surrounding a range of films and genres. European in flavour, ideas, styles, movements and thinkers feature throughout, providing a sound platform for university study in any discipline.

 

Assessment:

Coursework (30%) Exam (70%)

Duration: 2 years
Entry requirements:

Standard entry requirements to include grade 5 GCSE English Literature and
grade 4 in Maths

Exam board: WJEC
Costs:

£50 for key film texts and multimedia resources plus optional field trips.

Students may in interested a range of careers in film including content producer, editorial assistant, teacher/lecturer, videographer and production manager. Students may consider direct entry into related employment.

Higher education

Whilst students may continue on to study film and media related subjects, this course is relevant to those wishing to pursue many other subject areas at degree level.
