Chemistry is the study of the elements and their compounds and brings together important aspects of Physics and Biology. Chemical principles underpin all biological systems and the physical environment in which we live, affecting everything from high performance materials to sustainable energy to the effectiveness of modern medicines.

 

Assessment:

Exam (100%)

Students must also produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their competence in a variety of practical tasks.

Duration: 2 years
Entry requirements:

Standard entry requirements to include grade 5 English and grade 5 Maths GCSEs, plus GCSE 6 in Chemistry or 66 in Core Science & Additional Science

Exam board: OCR
Costs:

£30 per year for textbooks.
