Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration

As an apprentice you will cover many aspects of the day to day duties required in a business environment.  It is a qualification which is transferable into most industries where there is an administration role.

Learners must complete 6 mandatory units and a selection of optional units to achieve the full qualification.  

 

Mandatory Units:

  • Communication in a business environment
  • Understanding employer organisations
  • Principles of providing administrative services
  • Principles of business document production and information management
  • Manage personal performance and development
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues

Duration:

12 months

Training:

You will attend college for approximately 3-4 sessions to cover the knowledge units, these are achieved by taking online multiple choice tests. Training dates are spread throughout the year.  You will be assessed/trained in the workplace on the other units in addition to self study.  There will also be extra sessions for functional skills if required.

Suitable for:

For those who work or want to work in a business environment. It is designed for people working in roles such as administrator, office junior, receptionist or other office based positions.

Progression routes:

With additional training, intermediate apprentices may be able to progress in their careers to roles including administration executive, administration team leader, office supervisor, personal assistant, secretary or a wide range of other business administration roles.

Intermediate Apprenticeship includes:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT at Level 1(depending on prior grades)
  • ERR (Employer Rights and Responsibilities)

 

Advanced Apprenticeship - Level 3

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to assist future progression in a range of different business administration positions.  The skills gained can be transferred into almost any office environment.  

Learners must complete 5 mandatory units and a selection of optional units to achieve the qualification.

 

Mandatory Units:

  • Communication in a business environment
  • Manage personal and professional development
  • Principles of business communication and information
  • Principles of administration
  • Principles of business

Duration:

12 months

Training:

You will attend college for approximately 3-4 sessions to cover the knowledge units, these are achieved by taking online multiple choice tests. For those with some office experience working in a role such as administration officer, administration team leader, personal assistant or secretary.

Advanced Apprenticeship includes:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration

Higher Apprenticeship - Level 4 

The Higher Apprenticeship provides the knowledge and understanding into more advanced principles and processes of Business Administration.

Learners must complete 4 mandatory units and a selection of optional units to achieve the qualification.

 

Mandatory Units:

  • Resolve administrative problems
  • Manage the work of an administrative function
  • Communicate in a business environment
  • Manage personal and professional development

Duration:

up to 24 months

Training:

You will spend one day a month at college and have regular work based assessments.  Self Study is required.

Suitable for:

For those who have held a business administration position for some time and have a good standard of English and Maths. 

Progression Routes

With additional training, higher apprentices may be able to progress in their careers to roles including operations director, business development manager, company secretary or a wide range of managerial roles within business.

Advanced Apprenticeship includes:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT at Level 2 (depending on prior grades)
  • ERR (Employer Rights and Responsibilities)
