The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Barbering covers all the basics of barbering. Barbering apprentices will work as a Salon Junior, assisting senior staff while training as a Junior Stylist. Duties are likely to include booking appointments, shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair, and mixing and applying hair colouring.
This qualification is aimed at those who work or want to work in a hairdressing salon or barbers. Apprentices will be assessed in everything from shampooing to cutting and colouring. A Barbering diploma gives the apprentice the skills and experience to start or develop their career in the hair industry.
The Level 2 will take up to 18 months to complete. To complete the Apprenticeship, apprentices have the choice of College or in salon supported workplace learning and have regular work-based assessments.
The Advanced Apprenticeship is for those who have been working in a salon/barbers for some time. It will include advanced cutting and facial hair shaping, with optional units including shaving, advanced patterns in hair and colouring.
The Level 3 will take up to 18 months to complete via College or work-based supported learning and assessments.
