Intermediate Apprenticeship

The Intermediate Apprenticeship is aimed at those who work or want to work in a mechanical manufacturing engineering environment. It allows apprentices to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the mechanical engineering sector. Apprentices must complete 3 mandatory units and a selection of optional units to achieve the qualification.

Mandatory Units:
  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
  • Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
 Duration:  24 months
 Training:
  • One-off induction
  • Weekly college workshops and work-based supported learning
  • On-job assessments
  • Employer led work related skills training
 Suitable For:  Those who work or want to work in a mechanical manufacturing engineering environment
Qualification Includes:
  • Level 2 Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
  • BTEC Extended Certificate in Engineering - Level 2
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT at Level 1 or 2 (depending on prior qualifications)
  • ERR (Employer Rights and Responsibilities)

Advanced Apprenticeship

The Advanced Apprenticeship is aimed at those who have been working in a mechanical manufacturing engineering environment for some time and have already completed the Level 2.  Apprentices must complete 3 mandatory units and a selection of optional units to achieve the qualification.

Mandatory Units:
  • Machining components using milling machines
  • Setting CNC turning machines for production
  • Producing components by manual machining
Duration: 24 months
Training:
  • Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
  • BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT at Level 2 (depending on prior qualifications)
  • ERR (Employer Rights and Responsibilities)
Suitable For: Those who have completed the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
